Commadore vt 6 cylinder

Hi, people,
I have a Commodore that is causing me a load of trouble since I bought. It overheats all the time. I have had the engine checked, I have had a new thermostat installed, new hoses, had it bled, and yet it is still overheating. I got stuck in traffic because of, and when it overheats like to the absolute hot level the fan won't turn off. I have had it at the Mechanics three times and now it's going back in morning, but I am starting to dought him now. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with it????????

They are known for the intake manifold gaskets to fail, but this doesn't usually cause major overheating. Without looking at it it could be a failed headgasket or blocked radiator. Get the cooling system pressure tested. Mechanic should have identified the problem the first time you took it there.

Check water pump is doing it's job, if not replace, then new radiator would be the next step along with a full flush of the cooling system, of course you may have a blown head gasket which any half decent mechanic would check for.
I recently had to fit new radiators to 2 VZ's.

After switching off and all is safe to place your hand on the radiator grilles, feel if any area is cold, this will reveal a blocked radiator. As mentioned above the mechanic should have already checked head gasket by doing compression test etc, I would search for some one else mate.

I have a VS Ute (same engine) and I had a huge amount of crap in the cooling system (brown rusty sludge), so a thorough radiator flush won't hurt. The reality is a cooling system is pretty simple. It will only be a one of a few things. As above, water pump would be a prime suspect if it is overheating at idle, stuck in traffic. That or a partial blockage which is restricting the flow of coolant.

most common causes for this is water pump or inlet gasket I do quite a few inlet gaskets on these motors
