W50 into HR Sedan

Thinking about a W50 steel case 5 speed into my HR Sedan. What mods need to be done to the floor/tunnel? Anyone done the conversion before? It has a Trimatic in now & was previously a Powerglide.

Half the floor crossmember will need to be cut out and strengthened. The shifter will exit right at the top of the tunnel.

From what I know the W series 5 speed fits in the tunnel without and great mods. A few years back I fitted a Borg Warner 5 speed from a VH C'dore into a EH and it was a nightmare, it was then my neighbor said why didn't you go Celica 5 speed as they are muck smaller and fit without any cutting! Best thing you can do for a red six is a five speed.
You will need:
Bellhousing
New clutch kit to suit conversion
Spigot bush to suit conversion
Slave cylinder bracket
EH (?) type slave cylinder (check on which one it is)
Modified gearbox crossmember (CRS used to sell them or you can modify your Holden crossmember - easier if you have the Toyota member as well.
Tailshaft will have to modified for length and Toyota front uni (it might be the same as HR).
Floor member will have to be cut and boxed for gearshift. Floor will have to be double skinned over cut out section of floor member and around gearshift.
The gearbox should fit under a HR floor.
How is the rubber boot on the bottom of your gearstick?
I've got a new one you can have for the postage cost ($7.50)only - they sell for $25.
Dellow Austomotive or Castlemaine Rod Shop sell the parts you will need.

Old is good.

Hi David, would like to take you up on your offer of the rubber boot. Is it still available? Cheers, David

Thanks for all the info Old is good. Yes heard its a great combo for the old six. 20 odd years ago I had the floor/tunnel modified for an All Aussie. Boxed as you mention. Went with a Traumatic instead at the time. Maybe I won't have to change much. Just make sure I get a 5 speed with the shifter in the right spot. Better search for W50 sizes etc to make sure. Cheers

Dellow Automotive in Sydney sell the different position shifter bases if yours isn't right. They are on their website.
If you find their stuff on ebay and want it, buy it direct from them, not through ebay.
I bought three items recently from Dellow through Ebay. They were small items, all three weight less than 500gm. They would not combine the postage, so I had to pay $27 for a $6.50 satchel, that took 3 phone calls, a month of waiting, and an ebay item not received claim to get here. Then they sent one item twice.
