hi guys has anyone got any info on fitting a vs comodore 3.6lt alloytec v6 into a fj
sump clearence engine mounts etc the fj already has a hr front end need to know if it has to be modified
firstly, alloytec 3.6 v6 from vz on, or a vs commodore ecotec 3.8?
3.8 v6 commodore has been done many times - should be able to google it. pat gardner in moree sells the kits??
the alloytec is very wide, better make some measurements and see if it can be done. they also use a cast aluminium sump which if its wrong will take some work to fabricate a correct one. ls1's the same but these have off the shelf options due to their popularity.
I'm doing one into an FJ at the moment. It's do able but I wouldn't recommend it as a first time project. You'd be better off spending your cash on a decent replacement front end and using an ecotec in my opinion. The sump is not easy to modify on the alloytec and is best used as is. Original ac pump and alternator is too big for the Fj bay and need changing. The security system is not easy to bypass and you essentially need to use all donor harness and ecu's etc.
Haven't really looked myself, but ive heard vz is front sump, ve is rear.
