HZ SLE Statesman Production

Can anyone tell me if they made SLE Statemans through all of HZ production or just at a specific time in 1979?
This model were 308 turbo 350, 3.08 diff, 4 wheel disc brakes, laminated windscreen, air conditioned, electric windows, rear window demister, remote drivers mirror, tinted windows, central locking, Velour trim, sports instruments, sports steering wheel, trim coloured, separate stereo and quadraphonic sound systems, tape player and probably a few things I have forgotten.
Like the sandmans Holden have very little information on these models.

They seem to have been in about 4 - 6 different colours, Cinnamon, metallic Green, Maroon, and perhaps white so far.
I have a Cinnamon one which I hope to get restored eventually.

These were a limited time offer in 1979, there is no way to identify them from the tags and Holden "available" records do not list vehicle option codes. It is a shame that the records they have are so vague, especially on cars like this.

The HZ SLE Statesman was not introduced until June 1979 and was only a limited edition , don't know how many were made.

this brochure is dated Oct 79. http://picclick.com....
I'm not aware of any 78 model SLEs only 79 and poss 80. I could never quite warm to the egg crate style grill. I had a HZ caprice in the early 80s when these cars were around and only a couple of years old. I recall seeing quite a few SLEs so I don't think they were a particularly low volume model. They provided an alternative to almost get a caprice at a deville price to help boost overall sales towards the end of the HZs without trying to upset and offend too much those that shelled out big $$ for a Caprice...

Andrew

My understanding is the same as Andrew. SLE was available at the same time as Caprice and Deville as an intermediate luxury level. But there are no listings for any of the parts even in my 1980 edition of the HZ parts book. (Not even the T350)From what I've read the first SLE'S ones may have used T400 which ceased to be used in 1979.
I have seen a GMH model recognition guide which included them, they have the same model code on the body plate as a Caprice which is really strange.
The way the GMH released things like this there must be a service letter for the dealer network, keep an eye out for any for sale you might be able to get a full list of the mechanical and body changes from that.
