Same part was fitted to all Holden engines from HX (1976) until at least VC Commodore and WB. Later V8's with carby probably still had it too. Good luck took me a while to get one that worked.

I would be inclined to use a joiner and connect both vacuum lines together and thereby bypass the solenoid. It in conjuction with cold feed switch and transmission control switch act together to prohibit vacuum advance unless in top gear and warm engine. The only purpose is to reduce emissions as I understand it. So you could bypass and have the engine run fine - even better... until you can get a decent/affordable one - if it doesn't work at all you want to bypass otherwise you wont get optimum performance with vacuum advance disabled....

The VAC sure kills acceleration in gears lower than top.

As the car engages top you get a kick in the back when the car regains its performance.

My Shed

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

You could do that but if it needs to be inspected its better to have it. I have a switch hidden to bypass the control the rest of the time, anyone wants to check flick the switch and it looks like everything working.
