Went surfing this morning with the new/old HK "mock" chromies on,only temporary while I refurb the Tasmans.Just waiting on the spats to get here now!..:)
Happy Aus Day Fellas
Wagon Al and pleased to hear your back on the board
Post a pic when spats n refurbed Tasmans Are back on.
Happy AU day from down under
With the,UC I liked to have at least two wheel options.
Always good to have 2 sets!...
Thanks mate,They are only older tyres and whitewall flappers,I was just trying them to see if I like the look.I'll be buying new whitewalls for it now I like it.I can't run the Tasmans on it with the spats, they're to wide and can't fit them to the car unless I modify them.Love the old classic pic of the FE? wagon, coool.I will get a pic for sure when spats get here and I paint them!...:)
Yep she's an FE and did the trick back then no problems to really speak of. Although I do recall a small problem with the fibre timing gear going into a great pile of paper behind the timing cover /sump thought there was a bees nest n there !! We were in the back of beyond and it really didn't take to much to sort, most corner shops carried spares back in the day.
Look forward to your updated pics
is this the HK wagon you told me is for sale...how much again $400? I'll take it and obviously have to spend a fair bit on it,oh well. Happy Aussie day Al and all.

wow that looks a bit different with steely rims.
I recon the Tasman's wold look cool with the spats ?
Just a thort mate.
Stay safe mate and always a pleasure to see the surf wagon mate
P.S nothing wrong with hub caps mate
Yeah mate,I'de love to run the Tasmans with the spats but can't yet because they are to wide.I'll check em out when I get them to see if I can modify them somehow?...
Yeah might put hub caps on every now and then to!..
Thanks mate, hope ya's had a great day out in the Prem!...
i recon that would be the way to go if they fit with the Tasmans mate
Yea was a good run in the HJ Prem, lot of old Holden's and Fords and even the VAL's were out in force around Cairns- Port Douglas today.
& it came with two free slabs of Jack & Cola.
done deal mate with 2 slabs cold of course.
and took the kingswood for a run too. only 3ft or so here at The Entraance. Gotta pull my finger out and post up some pics . I've still kept the hubcaps with original chrome slotted trims with my spats though. I have set of deep dish kidney 5 slotters, dont know what theyd look like with spats though? be interesting to see how your tasmans look. Where did you track down the spats Al?
I bought them off auto Cableshttp://www.ebay.com.....
I paid $260 but I see he's upped the price in the new year.
Yeah only small fun glassy waves here, 3 foot,no wind this morning..:)
Yeah pics mate of the HT would be good!..
If your kidney mags are 6 inch with 185/75/14 tyres the spats won't fit,if they are 5 inch with 175/75/14 tyres they will fit, they are out from the body(bottom of wheel arch) so spats won't go on.That's why I can't fit spats with Tasmans unless I modify the spats, somehow?
I ordered a new 10 footer single fin off Bob Brown, done old school style!...:)
Is he using his old school tissue paper logo?
BTW when you get your spats they may need some massaging to fit. They will prob bulge slightly to fit which might assist with bigger tyres. Ive never tried fitting mine with the mags so you may have a point. I run 185/75's and there isnt heaps of room where the spat drops down to the bottom of the wheel arch. I've never had an issue in 20+yrs and only just noticed as ive refitted them 2 days ago after fish oiling the whole car from front to back. I think the biggest i've fitted in the past are 205/75s? stretching the memory a bit now.
Mate, Fit the spats first before painting in case that slight massaging is needed.
Nah I don't think Bob has any of those logo's any more, just his normal one with BB longboards on it. http://cdn.shopify.c... will be a 10 foot, triple stringer, light blue and yellow stripes with the volan(greenish tint, old style) glass,as long as the glass wont clash with the colours? Will do that with the spats, thanks mate!...
yea im out then, I run 215 65r 14 on my HJ Prem
yea im out then, I run 215 65r 14 on my HJ Prem.
Gee AL, every time ya put a pic up of the "surf wagon" you sure do get a lot of flack ha ha
Wheels look good Al (although I had a sneak preview). Are you gonna have the spats painted professionally? they might look outa place against the aged duco, maybe get 'em to had a little flattener .
It's a shame you had to fork out $260 for a set of spats, didn't Timbo promise you a pair for nix!
With your clearance issues with the Tasmans, fit a pair of cruiser skirts.
Thanks mate,I'll paint them myself,I painted the visor as you can see in the pic.If it doesn't look right I'll look at something like that.
Nah I couldn't get Tim to donate his to the Surfwagon Foundation, haha, unless I found some genuine HR one's to swap him.
Finding a pair of originals would be hard so they'll do,I thought of side skirts to and still might do something that way,see what happens when I get the spats, but for now I'll just change em over every now and then!..
