Mate it seems that your a little lost with Holdens. Speak to Sammy about the 6s. Best knowledge going around for nothing!

Um if your going to buy a Commodore, help yourself and not buy too old. I know the VB & VC to H K 'n L are cheap, but there not realy re-sellable, if you know what I mean. When you put thousands in, you get nothing back!

As for engine sizes....they are to my knowledge (for the VC)

=Blue 173 2.85lt (known as LC, Low Compression) With more polution gear than a Blue 202.

=Starfire 4 1.9lt (2 cylinders short of a 173)

=Blue 202 3.3lt HC(high Compression) Usually you can tell the difference from the engine numbers as follows LC=VD and the HC=VL then followed by the numbers.

=Blue 253 4.2lt V8 (not worth the money pissed into them) Noisey and fuel guzzling.

=Blue 308 5.0lt and so-on!

There is NO 186 BLUE, so don't get told other wise! And as for litres in the engine size, all it means is the ammount of compressionable space per pot at the lowest crank. For example, if you lower all pistons at bottom crank in a 202 the compressionable space per cylinder is 550mls adding to 3.3ltrs. And so-on!

I do not know much about the VC, and realy all I know about the VK is from pulling the Motor and Box out of one... and I own a bedford Van (Holden running Gear) forgetting that, my VK manual if for VC to VK and it says that they came out with all 6cyl 186 (2.85) and 202 (3.3) all with carbies and the 186's have a 4 speed box and a taller diff..

had the choice I would look for a mildly worked 186, can rev harder and higher and with the 4 speed has better economy... good luck with the looking'

What your manual would sugest is the HC and LC engines. Blue 173 to Blue 202 in all coms appart from Reds. If there's a Blue 186 I wanna be the first to know!

A 2.85 is a 173..

A 3.04 is a 186 only known in Reds.'
