how to convert a standard eh holden into a full running V8?

please can anyone give me any information on how to convert a straight eh into a running V8 with all the mechanic change to the eh holden from the motor to the handling to accomodate the V8.

I live in Darwin and I am 17. Earlier this year I researched into changing my 202 Red Motor in my EH into a 350 Chev but after looking at paint costs, engine costs, time costs, and all the rest it is about a $25,000 - $40,000 job just depending on what help you can get. I wanted to find a sponsor for mine as a Early Holden turned into a MEAN drag car but no one would even sponsor me.

I looked at putting a special chassis kit through the entire car after putting either a full/half rollcage for more support for myself and my friends. After the chassis stuff is put in you need to fit your diff (9 Ford Diff on most occassions even though I HATE FORDS) then the shaft, gear box, and the motor. All engine mounts, fuel lines, exhaust connections, and everything else also had to be done.

The exhaust was being put through the side walls of the engine bay just to make room and a blower was being installed on to the car to give extra room at the top by cutting a HUGE hole in the bonnet. There is so many more things I havn't told you but I WISH I could do it but I dont have the money so for now I'll just stick with my 202. If you can do it and stick a V8 in your EH send me all your details of how you did everything and where you had problems because I am making a site about doing up EH's and parts and EVERYTHING FOR THEM!!!

i want to put a 253 into mr hr ute. Just wondering if will fit without to many complications. Also wondering if a celica 5 speed gear box will bolt on and if i need to change the rear diff.

Hi Guys

Wanted in plain English how to convert My WB Tonner Blue 202 with a M20 gearbox - Salsbury Diff to a 307 Chev or a 400 with a manual gearbox. What type of gearbox Muncie or Saginaw or something different? What do I need to change? Please HELP....

I had a 350 chev in an EH, Corvette muncie box and motor.. Just need about 50k and buy the bits off the shelf.

Can have a lot of cheap easy fun in QLD with mechanic approvals. NSW not so easy.
Cheap upgrades are WB stubs/rotars. Hilux or hiace diff, can find track width to match wheels. VS radiator (cowl and fan). Can get rest from hatfield.

my 350Eh weighed 1100kg (this is biggest advantage power to weight). Would have been better acceleration with turbo 2 litre motor. Easiest grunt is 4litre EF motor. 160kW with turbo.

Get rid of the 202 and banjo. Patrol engine is RB30 carbie version of VL motor. 202 box is crap either 1.5k for celica box or sloppy shifters on m20.
uc torana disc brake end fits in - but back brakes are not a problem as EH won't go round corners too well so 99% of braking is pre corner and front brakes r important.

If you had a 350 chev in a eh that weighed 1100kgs it must have had a fiberglass body, and not registered in QLD ( QLD transport will only allow up to a 327 chev in a EH).If you fit a V8 in a EH use standard HT coils an this will give you about a 2ins drop in the front ride height ( standard EH coils will have it sitting on the bump stops).

they might have changed it since you found that out im in Bundaberg and qld transport and my mod plater are telling me that I can go up to 5.9 litre naturally aspirated and new laws are coming in next month so the goal post will move again but if you get the paper work in before the change date you have 12 months to build it under the old law but if you need more time you can ask for an extensions but I don't know how long that extension is

Hope it go's well for ya. I'm putting a 502 cube supercharged, nitrous and on methanol into a EJ that i just picked. Its for the drag strip only and will be finished in about 2 months hopefully. I'm also running a transbraked powerglide, tubbed rear for full slicks and quick change diff. Im hoping on getting high 7sec passes out of it. I'll keep yas updated and post links to watch it on the strip.
