HOLDEN HG V8 DIFF

HEY GUYS I HAVE A 308 HG UTE AND AT SOME STAGE SOMEONE HAS CHANGED THE REAR END TO A 6CYL CAN YOU TELL ME THE TYPE IT WOULD HAVE HAD OR WICH TYPE WOULD FIT STRAIGHT IN WITH OUT TO MUCH WORK??? ALSO WOULD ANYONE IN BRISBANE HAVE A GOOD ONE FOR SALE?? WOULS A HQ DIFF DO THE JOB?? THANKS HEAPS

Quick question before going into too much. What makes you think it is a 6 cyl rear end? Is this due to a banjo diff in the rear? If so it is correct! The only V8 vehicles fitted with the GM 10 bolt rear end were the 'Chev' powered vehicles. (ie Chev engine, Chev trans, Chev diff! Holden engine, Holden trans and Holden diff!) The only difference between Holden 6 cyl and V8 diffs are the front diff flange. In regards the Hq rear end, forget it as it is 2.5 inches wider than the HKTG rear axles! Hope this helps.

HI THANKS FOR THE INFO,YES IT WAS THE BANGO, I THOUGHT THAT THEY WOULD HAVE HAD THE BIGGER DIFF, SO WOULD YOU SAY TO GO FOR THE 10 BOLT???? AND WHAT MODEL SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR? THANKS

I have used a Commodore Large Salisbury diff and have welded the spring saddles on to the tubes so the diff can be fitted. The diff housing is only 3/8 of an inch difference. (Commodore is narrower that HKTG!).

have a strange clunking noise coming from right rear when hitting small bumps on the road

load clunking noise coming from right hand rear of veichle when going over small bumps

I bought an ht diff for $50 to put in my hg(mine is stuffed, by previous owner),,, but the axels will not pull out.. a mate said theyve been welded in...how can i remove them to put the hg ones in (ht ones have been drilled), im no mechanic but want to give it a go myself first.

I have a 71 hg prem, it now as a chev 10 bold diff and I wont to put new rims on it the pcd is 4 1/2 inch which I be leave is hg pattern, but not sure the length of original diff? It has chev 350 and turbo box, mabe this setup is from another hg with chev setup? What is the rim offsets I won't?
