HZ ute with the EFI commodore tank

Hi all, been a while since i been on here so thought i would post a pic of the conversion so far.

This is the 80L efi fuel tank out of my VQ statesman sitting under the ass of the HZ ute. Went up nice and easy just the filler was a pain in the but to route. but i got it how i want it.
At the moment it comes out through the inside panel, but was made so when it goes to the panel shop no mods needed when the opening is put into the gaurd, i just turn the cap around 90o.

Now all thats needed is to run the fuel lines and wait for my accel cable to come back.

I need your vast Hemi 6 knowledge!
Just spent a day replacing a 215 & colum 3 speed in a VJ Charger with a worked 265, Holley & 4 speed for a customer.
First thing...the bloody tail shaft is now too long..do you know how much I need to shorten it by??..being lazy it saves me measuring.
Second..after questioning the owner, he said this 265 was bought as a "good thing". It fired & ran, sounded quite toey, but had no oil presure. After stuffing around trying to prime the bloody thing, I droped the sump...oh dear....where have the teeth gone off the oil pump drive!!.
Further looking revealed that this 265 "was" a good thing, with new looking pistons, machine work etc. But before our customer had bought it the oil pump had stoped..but sadly the engine was not shut down straight away..its now at the machine shop :(
As I pulled it apart, I am sure its not the first time this has happened. What may have caused the gears to chew out (the cam seems ok)..& how can we stop it doing it again.

Buddy the problem you speak of is as commen an finding rust on a wreck in the bush:)

Where it went wrong was they used a softer metal for the dizzy and oil pump gears, coupled with the exessive cam end float makes for a quick disaster.

Now who ever built the motor should have known this and rectified it...

Now for the fix, you need to get on the phone with hemi performance and get a brass gear for the oil pump and dizzy as it wont be far from going either, and a modified timing cover to fix the end float, or you can modify the old one by drilling a hole where the cam lines up and welding a nut on so a bolt can go through and be adjusted.
Also there is 2 different cams, a 1 bolt and a 3 bolt, and each cam can have either 15 or 16 tooth drives on the cam. so count them too get the right gear.

For the tail-shaft, wouldn't have the foggiest mate.

Ahhhhhhh...a big help..this explains much.
On inspection, the dizzy already has a bronze gear, the oil pump does not. This also explains the bits of plastic gear I found in the sump!
I have seen a couple of older speedway Chargers with bolts sticking out of the timing case..now I know why :)
Thanks heaps Hem-den, I cant see why I cant add a bolt to the std. timing cover, as I understand what has to be done...as for the tail shaft, I'll just have to dig out the tape measure.
