Now im with you.
Bretto put in a huge effort to fix it before he went to NZ for holidays.
On his last night we put the new tail shaft in and had a crack at getting it to go.
Did not even want to know about it. The trans was not playing the game. Another mate and I took it out a couple of days later only to find two massive pieces cracked out of the top of the bell housing. Off to the trans mob it went. They could not find anything physically wrong with it. Because of the cracks it had to be completly stripped and put into a new housing. I ended up having to pay $500 towards the rebuild but now I have a fully rebuilt one!!
They wanted to refit it for waranty reasons. I wasnt saying no! In the end we picked it up on a trailer, took it home and bolted the old exhausts on and went on a sightly side ways cruise. We took it out on Saturday night for the Ace ford club cruise (500+ Cars) and it didnt miss a beat! Now I know how you feel with a whole lot of fun under you foot!!
Its off on Friday to have the exhausts looked at for replacement. The old ones are a bit second hand and very bloody loud! Coming home on Sat night we were pulled up at a RBT, We were in a line of cool cars, When it was my turn I thought they would sticker me for sure but they never said a word!!
Its gotta get put away for a while now as Kerri and I have just brought another house and im gonna be a bit busy moving crap! I spent soo long waiting to get it going now I have nit got the time to drive it!!
How are the family and how is Tassie going?

Great too hear it all went well and its going again. I bet you're happy about getting a house, what direction is it from the middle of town? We hope you and Kerri are doing good.
We're all going very well down here, everything is sooo cruisy its not funny. We Qute drop in while he was down here, Mr & Mrs Dooby from OH called in for a hello as well, It was really good to meet Tony & Lee & the kids.
The Prems getting more solid every other w/end, new panels will be here soon then its onto the rest of it :)
All in all, its bloody good mate ;)

Damn near throw a stone from where we are now.
Moved to Windsor Hills in Orelia.
We are in a real nice street with a lot of upper end houses ( I feel bloody sorry for them). The first job for the shed is to V8 my mates 57.
Just a small house but its got a good sized yard and pool with a decent sized shed for me to play in!
Our building plans fell through after the developer stalled on the land realeases.
Im absolutley loving my new job! Just got told yesterday that I will be looking after Busselton and Bunbury! That will get me out and about!
So i take it you are doing a bit more than just the beaver panel????
Kerri has a new job as well, She is now the assistant accountant/admin manager for Toll SPD in Welshpool. She is basically in an apprentiship to take over from the boss lady in 2-3 years. She is loving the change but reckons its bloody hard work!
Glad to hear all is good down there. We are in the early stages of planning a huge road trip probably be a couple of years away but us and another couple ar going to hit the road in a campervan for 6 weeks, With a bit of luck we may get to your neck of the woods.

Great news on the house & jobs for both of you, good stuff :)
With the prem, the beaver & all the internal structure stuff is getting done.
The diffs out (i'll get to it "soon") to be rebuilt and i'll sort the rear brakes out (I knew I should have kept them backing plates lol)
Mounting up the holley fuel pump with a good filter and a groovy safety switch.
A sump has to be welded onto the tank for the fuelpipe outlets so the tank has to come out.
All the fuel fittings and fuel line up to the engine bay then to the carby.
and anything else that happens to crop up in between, as i'm doing it i'm sticking pics in the shed :)

the transmission probably cracked because the torque convertor was not set in properly, you may have damaged the pump in box also . if the convertor is not set in properly it stands proud by about 1/2" and a lot of people just think it is sticking and pull it in with the bolts and crack the housing.

If you have followed my dramas you would know that the reason my bell housing is cracked is the fact of snapping a tail shaft at 5000rpm

Yeah been wanting to catch up and meet everyone for a while, what a great opportunity to do so and see some great aussie icons. Got this mad idea to get a permit and bring the hq ss for a spin,good exuse to charge the battery. My young bloke wants to come too and bring his vy monaro but i think he realy wants to come in the ss.Paul i have read and heard good reports on soda blasting and is growing preferred alternative to sand blasting for all restoration.I would"nt hesistate useing it on my future resto"s

As far as my experience goes its all good mate, my car came out looking bloody great, no warping and a nice smooth no bullshit finish on the bare metal with no warping. It leaves all the bog and rust so you can see where your trouble spots are and it was only a few hundred extra over sand blasting.
The only thing that ive heard is you need to wash and prep the surface before you paint it as apparently some people have been having some problems with paint not sticking or something. Sounds like people just havn't been preparing the body prior to painting to me though. Check the link for pics of the VH after blasting

Id love to come but ive got to pick up the Cresta this weekend and the wifes working sat(so im kiddy sittin) and if i drive out to pickup the cresta she wants to come with so we can stop in York and look at houses(buyin again) Is there any chance we can have an 'old holden' cruise sometime cos id love to catch up/meet everyone down here, its hard to find like minded people (old+holden lovers) and would love to pick brains/cruise/beer etc
