You are here

i wanna take that roadworthy tester out the back and *&%^&%^^&

they (batemans auto in werribee victoria) failed my beloved VC commodore wagon for some really stupid and incorrect stuff!

here is an example of things they listed but when i rang vicroads they said those parts should have passed.....

*power wire for sterio running along top inside of the passenger side wheel arch! (not sagging down, not likely to wrap around the wheel...secured safely)

*window rubbers cracked (excuse being that other car's fumes could enter the car!!! bull Sh!t!!!!, the air vents in any car suck in air outside...and other car's fumes as well!!!!!)

*carpet to chassis plastic holder strip thingy not 100% secure on passenger side! (excuse = someone might catch their foot on the carpet and then fall and hit their head........AND AS IF THAT WOULD HAPPEN...ANYWAY ITS A POINT AND LAUGH EVENT!!!!

in other, more straight-forward words, (most)roadworthy inspectors are greedy for your money cause you have to take it back to them and pay again after makin' repairs, and on a power-trip!

B@$T@RD$

(maybe ill calm down soon)'

do you have to pay twice with a pink slip in victoria if it fails ? with NSW if your car fails, you pay the $47 or whatever, then once you fix the problems you take it back and they sign the form and give it to you, no other fees ..... weird!

Sammy.

A few RWCs I have seen friends get recently in Vic have had to pay $55 when they pick the car up from the first checkup, and when the items are done, they look at them and sign it off.'

whats the guts over there in oz with keeping your car legal.as stated by someone over there we get a warrant of fitness every 6 months at around 35 bucks for the test .then we can register the vehicle at 217 bucks. our petrol price at the moment is around 1.10 per litre so my v8 hq premier doesnt see a lot of tarmac. but we did do a 14.7 at champion dragway in it TTFN

Here in Tasmania, Ive owned my ute for neally 3 years, it's been registered the hole time and never been inspected. The only time you get an inspection is if you are re-registering a car that has been expired for more than 3 months. Even when you buy a car, it doesn't get looked at.'

thats shocking mate but not suprising. Last car i bought without roadworthy, they found heaps of stuff some of which wasnt really roadworthy related, but i paid because i couldnt wait to get the car.

Vic roads has a guide on their website about what things have to be roadworthy, next time i need one done i will be checking it closely.

I used to live in tassie as the guy above said its no probs there only time you ever need one is if the rego lapses more than 3 months

Mate,

the bottom line is:

your car must be mechanically in good condition.

If it meets ADRs relevant as displayed on the tags, then that roadworthy tester is not doing his job properly. Report him to the relevant authorites, and let the RACV know about him too.
