VN diff centre to HQ axle

Hi all.

I am going to put a blue 202 EFI in my 1 Ton that has a Toyota 5-speed with a red 202 at the moment. I will keep the 5-speed but want to change the diff with something close to 3.08 ratio. I was talking with a guy that said I could take the whole centre portion of a VN diff and bolt my HQ axles to it as I don't want to have disc brakes on the rear.

I am not sure about the current diff apart from it being a 3.36 ratio and it is not LSD.

If this is correct, with the driveshaft also fit without any changes i.e. fine or corse spline?

Cheers

Bazza

what you need to do is go to a diff shop and, assuming you have a salisbury (10 bolts on the rear of the diff) diff, have them replace your gears for a set of 3.08 gears. vn's use borg warner rear axles, everything is different.

if you have a banjo diff (bolts on the front side of the diff) i would suggest replacing the whole lot for a salisbury anyway.

estimated cost for this ratio change job would be approx $350, but phone around and see what you come up with.
