firstly mate that motor is a 202, VC have blue 202 not 186, anyways, you want to do the motor up as much as you can, but you really need to specify how much your wallet can handle as i could tell you stuff that would cost $1500 up to $5000 ....

Gday mate. Firstly, I trust that engine you have is a 202 or 173. People have often confused them-selves with the 3.3 202 and the 2.85 173 wich is more commonly mistaken as the 186. This is not so.

There are on the other hand LC: (low compression 202's and HC: high compression 202's)that have an engine number such as....

VD2876754 LC (low comp)

VL2876754 HC (high comp)

This is often the reason why people have thought they have a 186.

On the manifolds side of the block, there are numbers as follows (on the blue block) 2.85 or 3.3.- 173 or 202 Now try the engine number VL or VD this will give you a possitive yay or nay on engines. OK!

Any Q's ???

Sorry the only thing I have to suggest is to buy an XU1 or speak to Sammy.'

Im doing up my 202 and these are a few prices i got by ringing around.

street yella terra head - $440 with swap head (give them the stock head)

crow cams cam 35666 - $233 lifters to suit (the ond ones might be on their way out) - $124

350 holley carb with adapter - $400 approx + instalation if you cant do it yourself (or you could get a twin carby manifold and put 2 of the Varajet 2s on it (the standard carbs)'

that cam should be a nice street cam and should go well with that head, balance the bottom end of the motor and it will be a sweet bit of gear!

I would be interested to find out how the 350 Holley goes with that motor though, i had one on my motor and it would hesitate when the foot was planted and just generally didn perform to well, i put the VK EFI on the motor and all the problems were solved :)

Paul,

That is correct, best thing i even done for the old 202, better fuel economy, better drivability, more power, easier to start - hot or cold, and it looks better, you can go wrong!!!

Ive read a number of articles that have found problems with the 350 on a 202 - mainly due to poor fuel atomisation

one acticle had the 202 on a dyno and it lost power with the holley compared to the stock carb!

I would shy away from the holley and follow your example of EFI or stick on a Strongberg WW (twin barrel).

would it be better to find a twin carb manifold and put two rochester varajet 2s (the standard carb) on with a higher volume petrol pump??????

With the EFI, how simple is it to install? is it just bolt on and shove the computer somewhere like on the strut tower and replace the fuel pump

or what?'
