nah its for the floor shift. it just eliminates the plastic piece they normally screw into. it also shortens the shift. i'm a toolmaker so i'm always making up bits to better things on the car.

But...the Aussie 4 speed and all synchro boxes use the same shift mechanism (except reverse) so the improvement would be applicable to both.

Looks sorta like what I did to mine (HQ) but I used the bit off the reverse selector to attach the link rods to the selector levers... looks just like the ones you have made, only nice'n gold coloured (nickel plated?)

I also used the shorter of the 2 selectors off a 3spd in place of the 1-2 selector from the HQ 4spd... closed the 1-2 shift up to make it match the 3-4 shift. The 1-2 selector lever needs to be shorter then the 3-4 selector for the pattern to be even, as this is how they are on the shifter itself.

However this requires you to have a coupla setups laying around to pilfer bits off.

OH... and I put a nut on either side of the rod-to-selector doover to be extra safe in case the thread strips out of it.

Victa.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
