His car has leather, power steering , power windows, sterio
It all is very nice but add's weight - i would rather the R8 than a valiant anyday.
Nice car did you trade the Vk in?
Was it expensive...?

I can almost assure you that thing weighs more than an old valiant, uses craploads less fuel, and has all manner of pointless peripheral gadgetry sapping ponies from its engine...

But I have to ask... it may cost less on the road than the VK... but do you OWN it, or does the bank? and also, if the bank does own it, what will it be worth by the time YOU own it and how much will it have cost you to get there??
I'm not being a smart ass, I love new commodores I think they are great cars, it's just these are the reasons I will likely never consider buying a new car... I consider it to be a scam on monumental proportions - its criminal what people give to the banks just to lose out on depreciation...

still, nice car :)

Being an owner of a cv8 and ht monaro,it goes without saying that late model cars are great fun to drive.
As for what they will be worth in the future is anybody's guess.
Hindsight would be a great thing to have.

TELL SOMEONE WHO CARES

Hindsight
- understanding after fact: the ability or opportunity to understand and judge an event or experience (after it has occurred.)

Foresight
- ability to think ahead: the ability to envision possible (future problems or obstacles.)

I like most people on this site do not wish to hear about your or anybody else's hemi p.o.s,keep that to yourself.

very very nice car mate, i will give ya some back up ..lol
I'm sure there is a lot of money saved on repairs since it is a lot more reliable and cheaper to run.
They only way he will loose out is if he sells in after it's been paied off..
And the valiants has nothing over this beast, i'm sure this has a much higher top speed!!!and not to mention is a lot safer

Two diffrent eras, two diffrent cars but in another 30 years, do you reckon there will be many of these still surviving and you think the 30 year old crummydoor'll be worth more than the Val? but like i just said..not really compareable but gimme an old Val anyday. I love cars but not really into people moving devices.

"Junk is something you throw out 3 weeks before you need it"

Dusty, the old E49 Charger's officially ran a 14.5, the GTHO Falcon's a 14.8 and the XU1 Torana's a 15.2, same as the E55 Automatic Charger's...

The E49 Charger topped out at 125MPH as it ran the 2.23:1 Diff on the Drag Strip AND the open road for its tests...

The GTHO Falcon ran a 2.5:1 Diff (may have been a 2.75:1?) Ratio Diff for the 140MPH run and 3.9:1 Diff ratio for the Drag Strip times...

The E55 Charger and XU1 Torana also both ran their Factory fitted Diff, 2.92:1 and 3.08:1 ratios...

So tell me who was cheating... ;{D
I obtained these figure from a bloke who is considered an expert in the field of GT Falcons and worked at our local Ford Dealer here as well as being the one time President of the GT Falcon Club, so I cannot see any embellishments in the figures he quoted as it basically puts the dirt on his beloved GT Falcon. :{D

Simmo r8 nice score and when you upgrade to the Monaro Taillights give me a hoy and we will buy your S2 Taillights from you! ;{D hehe

We have a VT Supercharged V6 which on the FIT Site claims will do a WRX, HSV 5.7 Commodore and GT Falcon up to 3/4 Track or around 120KPH.
Just after buying it, from her friend’s Hubbys, my Wife was offered a VT 5litre Auto ClubSport from one, a VT 5litre 5 Speed Commodore and a VX 5.7litre 6 Speed Commodore as a swap, each were trying to get out expensive Fuel Bills and into a V6 Supercharged which will beat the V8 Commodore to just over the highest legal Speeds on our roads, but mainly for the 25+mpg around Town and 30+mpg on the Highway, thankfully my Wife said no to all, but I did go weak on the 5.7litre 6 Speed Commodore, had it have been me I am afraid I would have blindly jumped at it, but in hindsight each time we pull in to fuel up I LOVE our Super Six VT! :{D hehe

Does yours have the splatter looking seat material inside?
We were going to look at a Tiger Gold one at Warwick, a good 2 and a bit hours drive away that was Tiger Gold, immaculate, we had the cash but the bloke wouldn't bring it to us to have a look at it, I checked out the pictures and nearly puked at the interior, looked as if someone had thrown up in it, splatters and stripes an shyte, after that I wanted a boring Grey or Black interior! :{D LOL
We ended up paying $12,400.00 for our S/C V6 VT with 92,000k’s on the clock, and strangely our insurance dropped from $40.00 a month for our '91 VN Wagon to $36.00 a month for our Supercharged V6 WITH a Performance fee imposed, work that out??? Oh and it is now insured for several grand more than we originally paid so we are stoked. ;{P

My Daughter just scored a Series II Commodore with 80,000k’s on the clock for $11,000, it has a Body kit by Holden Design which looks refreshingly different to all the ClubSport kits you see around, is a one owner and ultra clean, but the colour is wild, it looks Black when the Sun is behind clouds or in shadows, but once the Sun comes out it is a Turquoise Green Blue colour, she loves her Mummy so she gave us her 17

That famous photo of the GT doing 140mph up the Hume Hwy; you can see the tacho showing 6750 rpm. That's about 20.7 mph/1000rpm or what you'd get from about a 3.5:1 diff. Musta had a few different options.

I was reading an article written with the bloke who shot that photo.
Apparently the gt only had the rev limiter removed.

Hrmm ok just did a Google and they state XU1's did a 14,7... :{/

When I first started going to Surfers Paradise Drags in '73 there were a few guys from the Sunshine Coast who owned genuine LJ XU1's, one guy, Porky had a Red XU1 and the best he could get from it running a dropped exhaust and a 20litre drum of Toluene Racing Fuel was a 15.2 which I thought from memory the guys ragged him about as it did no better than the factory times, he removed the CD Stromberg’s and fitted up 1 3/4" SU's which put his times at 15.5 so he refitted the original Stromberg’s, another guy, Henning(?) ran a Yellow XU1 which he rolled and painted Strike Me Pink, he had a bigger cam and ran Triple Webbers and he managed to get it down into the 14's, but my older sister's BF was just a tad quicker when he ran a 14.89 in his EH Holden but he had a worked over 4 Speed, Triple SU 208ci Six built by Superflow and was stinking hot in the day...

With my old TE Cortina, I ran 3.7:1 4 cylinder Diff gears, an '87 EFI 250 Crossflow converted to XE Weber and Dizzy and with 14x235x60 rear Tyres, it pulled 4,000rpm at 100kph, when I was trying to sort out the cogs for the Speedo I went to the local Ford Dealer, the guy at Spare Parts owns a GT Falcon and as I said was one time President of the GT Falcon Car Club, he went thru everything to work out that with the 3.7 Gears and the overall diametre of my rear Tyres I would need to run a cog to suit Canadian 3.9 gears, I never knew Ford offered 3,9's and he then told me that that was the ratios that were used to get the Quarter Mile times, the high gears I thought 2.75 were the highest, but he quoted a higher ration that was higher than the 2.6 gears used in the A9X Race Cars which I am sure was around 2.5, he told me that the original Speedo and Tacho were altered in the Official Ford Ad so it did not cause an uproar at the time, the needles were placed to a more acceptable speed and revs and as he said, no one will ever now what the original picture showed because the one released was just a representation which he claimed was inaccurate anyways, I didn't ask any further as I was surprised by what he had told me to that point, to think that Ford had used two different ratios somewhat stunned me as I also like Fords and Chrysler products on top of my Holden favourites...

But going by what they are saying on other Web Sites which I just had a squiz at, it looks like the official figures for the XU1 were most definitely sub 14 second times, so there ya go, as I said I was more going off what I saw on the track in the day with guys who owned genuine original examples, not mock ups... :{P
My apologies if I am incorrect... ;{D

I have found that most people who bag new cars only do so because they can't afford to have one themselves.

I could if i wanted but i'd prefer my cars without ADR's mate. My happiest day is fast aproaching where our VL (in good condition) will be stripped down and sent to china (running gear for a new buggy me thinks) and the old XW shall be my NEW car. cant wait, cant wait.
