brad's hq ute

From what I have seen and read this is a great web site!!!

Recently I got some Hq flutes put in my ute and when it came back the doors and the front quarter panels don't sit right anymore. The company that did the work are no longer in business I have try pulling the doors and quarter panels off and doing it myself and I still can't get it looking right. Any suggestions??

start from the back and work forward. Line your door up with your sills and rear pillar. Then put your gaurds on. You may need a mate to help push or pull and tighten the bolts up. Still not happy, you'll be suprised how much you can open, or shrink gaps by jacking up the vehicle just behind the front wheel, on the chassis and letting the motor/front end weight move the gaurd, (make sure the bolts are loose) Doing this will usually open the gap at the top and shrink the gap at the bottom. After the gaurds are done, do nosecone then bonnet. Very time consuming to get right. The gaps on commerical vehicles where never spectacular, but you can get them looking ok. Just try and keep the bead (horizontal fold) running down the car in line. You can also use flat washes to move the panels out if need be. I spent about 20 hrs doing my van.

I'd line up the doors with the rear & sills as described in the other post. Then....loosen the 2 rubber mounted bolts that hold the radiator support to the subframe....the whole guard setup hinges on this and there is a ton of freeplay to muck around with. Pull the whole shebang forwards. Take off the inner guards as these bolt directly to the radiator support, or at least unbolt them from the radiator support. Also if not taking the inner guards right off, loosen the 2 top bolts where they bolt underneath the guard. This will give more flexibility when adjusting the guards. Next line the gaps up at the firewall, then do the nosecone area.
Remember there are 3 bolts holding the guards to the firewall on each side from the inside of the cab.
The top bolts are accessed from inside the cab right up near the plenum chamber against the firewall (behind the vent tubes)....not easy to get to (spider territory!). These 2 bolts were deleted in HJ-WB thankfully.
