Suspension tips for Statesman

Im looking to change the suspension on my WB Statesman to regain the limousine feel the vehicle deserves. It currently has too-firm Pedders shocks, and the orinal springs on it. Has anyone had a few goes at changing their suspension seeking factory softness but still some control (without spending too much $$) and discovered the perfect combination? If so, please share your wisdom with me.

Thanks,

Matt (matthew.higgs@studen...)'

Yeah, although Im not sure what you would consider soft. Control and soft dont really go hand in hand IMHO. My WB runs Pedders GAS shockers (adjustable) with Lovells springs. The car is much much lower than stock, and handles really well, especially at 160kmh. shhhh.

Back on the road just yesterday, following another stint in many peices, you can see her here:- http://members.dingo...'

Hi, Ive just visited your page on your WB Caprice, one word, NICE! I'm impressed. I read that you have all the cruise control bits in a box, I'm currently fitting C/C to my HZ ute and I'm missing a couple of bits. Are you willing to sell me that box??

Please let me know,

Cheers'

mmmm. The bits are OLD and definately not working. The guy that just completed the paint for me has 2 x WB caprice wrecks that are going to be crushed next week, I just lifted all the door chrome trims from them, one body has the crusie vacuum unit still on the firewall (thats about all thats left!!!!) Ill grab it for you, if I can, before the wrecks go. Will report back soon.'

That would be awesome mate!! One of the main bits I need is the rod that connects the throttle to the power unit. Easy to make I know, but Id rather the genuine bit.

I dont mind bits that dont work or whatever, just want to see what I can salvage from whats left.

Thanks again!'

Sure, give me a week or two, Ill add more text to my Car's home page (lol). That manifold took a lot of design, prototyping and shear sweat to build. The story is interesting, it just needs time to write! I'll try to get hold of a scanner, then I can scan in all the print photos I took during the design and fab stages...

Stay tuned :D'

matt i had a hz caprice for nine years , i can suggest a good combination that made my car handle like a 300 zx it still was comfortable to drive and i only lowered it 1 -1/2 inches.
but it may still be to sporty for what your after, depending on your age the insurers may not want to know you if you have it low.
but if i was to suggest one golden rule for the big ol stateo dont put silly air shocks on the back no matter what anyone tells you ok , they are bad for good braking, you need to fit dual action oil shocks for the back (meaning they dampen up and down )
if you need more info just let me know ok.
