Help with my 253 distributor

First time to thise site,
I;m looking for a bit of help. Ive just removed cleaned and
fixed my distributor from a 253 that I have sitting in
an old Landcruiser, I know, I know. Anyhow having as usual
more enthusiasm than brains I'm stuffed if I can figure out
how to put it back in just the place it came from.
I read through some old posts and gave lining up this and that a shot but I'm not even sure which is S.P No1 to
be honest. All I got out of it was a "bang" from the
carb that scared me stupid. Maybe I,m 180 out?
Thanks
Luban

Ok do this set timing mark to top dead center making sure # 1 is on the compression stroke.
Set rotor button so it is pointing to # 1.
# 1 is the leading bank IE:the head that is furthest forward.
Put leads back in right order and away you go. Good luck.kik
