torana mods

hi i own a Lx torana 202 i am thinking of modifying it to give it a bit more guts if anyone has any cheap and effective suggestions it would be most appreciated. the only mods so far are extractors and exhaust.

A 186S carby or X2 set-up would be good. Im thinking of VK EFI for mine. I have two complete 186S set-up's (one for parts). If I decide to get the EFI (if I can afford to) I might sell my carby sets. Also, a VH commodore electronic ignition is good. Maybe a 3.55:1 diff to get it off the line quicker. The best performance mod I did to my one-tonner was to take off the timber tray and fit an alluminium one. :)

ok i have an lj torana with a 202 in it and i am going to put a 3.3 ltre 12 port black motor out of a vk commodore, if you can i reccomend that u turbo one these motors that have fuel injection.

yeah ive got a hz ute with a 202 and im looking to do the same thing. If your talking quick fix, put a set of extractors, a big bore 2.5 inch exaust and a 350 holley. 202's dont breath very well because the carby is on the same side as the exhaust manifold so extractors and a holley work well.'

I have an lx torry and it already has a set of extractors, at the moment i am looking for a 202 to put in it and i want to gt as much power out of it as i can if anyone has any suggestions i would be very happy to read them

good start with the extractors, what size are they? and are they mandril bend or plain forced bent? (this makes a differance to exhaust flow), 2 1/4 mandril are best.

go for an electric fan & fuel pump, electronic dizzy, a better carby(cheapest & easiest is a holley), a mild cam & get the head port & polished.

this should get you a good increase in power fairly cheaply while keeping it reliable with little or no noticeable differance to fuel consumption.

there is also an engine additive available called slick50 which i have found to be very good at giving a small increase in power & decrease in fuel useage

i have an lc with a 186 in it. bored out to a 192, yella terra head, roller rockers and a 350 holley but im thinking of putting in a supercharged 3.8 litre V6 but dont know where to fond a conversion kit. if anyone knows where i can get one, please let me know. also, i want to change my diff to a commodore lsd but have no idea how to go about this, but i want the commodore stud pattern because i got a custom made flair kit and have 17" rims on and they have commodore stud pattern. please, any information will help, thanks.

I'm cur4rently looking at putting an EFI into my LJ and i know this will be easy in terms bolting it in but my problem is that the engine I am building has had a lot of work done to it. My head is flowing about 260 hp naturally asperated and i need to know what parts are going to restrict my tuning. I know the factory computer will not be suitable. I have been told to use a later model throttle body off a VS-VT and to plug a VN computer into that as they are more tunable. Does the VS-VT throttle body fit strait on? and does the VN computer accept a "O"2 exhaust sensor instead of the restrictive air flow meter. Any help would be much apreciated.

As for the first Question of this thread.

If your after mofe power for cheep just try and get hold of an injected 3.3 and blt it in. the only hard parts will be to install the fuel swirl bowl and the electric pump. These engines are meant to have 109 kw from factory as aposed to 80-90 somthing kw at the flywheel.

i got my full flair body for my lx off a company called spoilertech they specialise in torana and comodore body kits go on ebay and you should find them hope this helps ya mate good luck
