eh 3 speed selctor problem

Hi, i am trying to replace the plastic trunnion that sits between the selector leavers on the steering column. Is it possible to fit without removing the column. Thanks

No need to take the cloumn out.
If you take the rod off (pull the split pin out) the arm that slides between the nylon trunnions I think the arm might swing down low enough to put the new trunnions in the other arm.
It's about thirty years since I did it, but I do remember it involved a fair bit of swearing to get them in.
I'm pretty sure Rare Spares sell rubber bush kits for the linkage rods. It would be worth doing it all at once so it works as good as it can.
Have a look at the gearbox end of the selector rods. Over time they wear where they pull on the gearbox levers. A bit of weld in the wear and some careful grinding improves them a lot.
Also make sure the wavy washers are still there on the gearbox end of the rods.
I have the Holden instructions for adjusting the levers if you need it.
The best fix is a Toyota five speed - no shift linkages to cause problems. LOL
