Reversing FC diff install in FX sedan back to original fx diff

Hi
I am wanting to convert my old fx back to original. It came with an FC diff in it when I bought it 20 years ago. They changed the diff but kept the front end original. I swapped in an FX/FJ diff on the weekend, but the uni joint on the tailshaft didn't match. The flange on the fx/ fj diff seems smaller. I don't have an fj tailshaft.

I am looking at the following options given I don't have an fj tailshaft.
1. Wondering if the FC diff centre will fit the fj diff housing?
2. or if I can just fit fj axles and brakes in the fc diff housing
3. or if I can swap the flange off the fc diff centre onto the fj diff centre. I don't really want to do that as it will probably stuff up the diff backlash etc
4. or if I can swap in a later holden diff flange and use standard round and readily available uni joints

any feedback greatly appreciated
many thanks

Do you have the early Armstrong shock absorber FX rear axle or the FJ type with telescopic shock absorber rear axle?

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

If your ute has the later telescopic shocks
the fc diff housing is the same as the later 53 to 56 fj housing so
no need to change the housing but the spring mounting plates were set further apart on the fc housing so you need to re position them by cutting them off and re welding them
diff centre was also the same right through to ej
rear uni joint was the same on late 53 fj through to ej
unless someone has put the later EH or later diff centre in the rear yoke
ok the diff were the same fj to ej
to convert the fj's to the fe style 13" wheels
you can put the fe,fc axles and brakes on the fj housing so to answer your question will the fj axles fit
the fc housing the answer is yes
unless your ute is a early 51 then no because the earlier housings used a smaller bearing

tailshaft will fit the uni joint inter changable so you just need to fit the early uni to your existing tailshaft
