swapping ute, chasis, hq body on hz chasis?

Ive come across two utes. one mint hq flat deck, motor is awesome, body etc great. Also a HZ ute, body and motor lokk pretty bad, but the owner has built the chasis, brakes, diff etc. Would the Hq flatdeck, body sit on a hz ute chasis?

You say both are utes so they will be same length chassis which are shorter than one tonne chassis/wheel base.
If you mean HQ is a genuine tonner, then the tray will fit possibly with a lot of cut and shut of the ute body, but may be too long for the ute chassis.

Explain what you mean by owner has built chassis, brakes, diff etc. Do you mean rebuilt ?

Check the compliance plates and see if one shows cab chassis(tonner tray back) and the other shows ute.(full body)

Measure the wheel base of each.

Sorry - The HQ is a one tonner. Body panels, running gear, motor, but has rust on chasis.

The WB is a ute, mint chasis, new diff, brakes etc. looks like alot of parts could be used.

Here are the links. The reality is i wont do anything, as am time constrained and my MRs would kill me if I bought one, let alone two new Holdens. But, reckon for around 8-9K youd have a great one tonne!

The hq front suspention tower is around 30 mm closer to the fire wall, I don't think fitting a hq on a Hz chassis will give you any problem, but for reg you will have Hz chassis I'd and hq body I'd might be a drama? Cheers.

Both chassis are identical until around the midway mark, the one ton chassis are around 6" longer than the ute/van chassis, and of course the one ton chassis have the supports that hold the rear of the cab and front of the tray in place. The upper arm support towers are identically located, however they are mounted at different angles as the HQ's ran a negative caster, where as the HX/HZ/WB ran a positive caster angle.

HQ body on a HZ shouldn't be a problem.
For registration it will be considered to be a rebodied HZ ute because the registration authorities use the chassis number as the main identifier of the vehicle.. It will not get registered as a HQ.
You will have to have all the HZ pollution gear working.
The big advantage of a HZ will be the RTS suspension. It will steer and handle better than a stock HQ.

Old is good.

The body on the HQ Tonner doesn't look so good in one of the pics seems to be bubbles in the paint and with rust in chassis the cab will most likely be prone to rust.

I have a HZ tonner that had bad rust in the gutters and sills. I replaced it with a HQ cab. My HZ had a commercial front (HQ style front)so the walk-off front (bonnet lines) matched up with the cowling ok. In my situation both cabs were from a tonner. I am guessing you want to put a tonner cab onto a sidetyle ute's chassis?

Another difference is the dashboard assy, you wont be able to swap over easily if your HQ comes as a bare cab. I cut my dash frame out of the HZ and welded it into the HQ so I could swap it over.

Swap the ID tags over so the chassis number matches up (as T points out). Not sure if it will have the rego guy scratching his head though if you put a tonner onto a sidestyle chassis.

SCABS - Gutless, spineless lowlife un-Australian cowards.

I think the HQ is actually a HJ.
