back when I started my apprenticeship,(1980) and was looking for my first car, Dad and I looked at a mint cond EJ Premier that was owned since new by an old guy in the small town in Victoria where I grew up it was beautiful metallic green white roof, leather interior, the same car today would win trophys it was so mint, we ummed and arred for a few days over it before deciding that the $1000 asking price was way to expensive, and I bought instead a much newer and with front disc brakes a HK premier for the huge sum of $150,
wish I had both of those cars now ..

Yea Linds its a wonderful thing,
back in 1982 the second year of my apprenticeship, the company I worked for was a bit quiet, so they told the 200 odd employees theres 2 choices everyone has a non paid 2 mth holiday or we close down, of course the holiday was chosen, but us apprentices were kept on 1 day a week so we could still go to TAFE etc, so as I still lived with my folks at that stage I didn't need to do any other work to get by, so one day due to boredom, I was tyre kicking a green sandman panelvan in a second hand car yard that was run by a friend of a friend of a friend, so he comes over and shoots the breeze, I tell him whats happening and he says to me... so you like the sandman? yea I go, he says well make you a deal, you come and be my yard lackey 3 days a week for the next 6 weeks and the sandmans yours, awesome I think,, so I front up next day and after 4 hours of washing cars went naaa to hard and I went home again lol
needless to say I still don't have a sandman and never have had one.

i cut up a eh premier with all the nasco extras, venetians, spats, radio, everything. put the seats in my eh wagon. the premier never had a spot of rust it was the green colour. i drove my 36 dodge down to the rubbish tip and walked away because no one would buy it.
cut up 2 55 Rovers for the rear diff and dumped the rest. put the diffs in the landi. and the 6 cylinder twin carby motor.
not stupidity just could not see the future.
