Has anyone successfully repaired this without having to replace the fascia?

Comments

Had mine break a while back, managed to get an L bracket screwed on behind it. Was a bit fiddly, but its held good since.

As Cadius says you can improvise a fix.
But make sure you fix the cause. Usual reason for these to break is that the cable and the bonnet lock are not working properly, you might need to adjust the bonnet fit as well to get it right it should be easy to open. Having to yank on the cable hard especially over a long period of time is what breaks them. It is only a light alloy metal not steel so it will always break eventually if its abused.

P.S. If you can get another lower dash frame its not a big job to replace it. About 30mins if you know what you're doing.

Anthony - Lettuce Alone SS

A little aluminium bracket, pop riveted on, or fiberglassed in will work. If you have a sticky cable, open your bonnet and disconnect the cable, hold it above the level of the radiator with a bit of wire, and dribble some CRC or WD40 so it goes downhill into the cable. Work the cable in and out and keep dribbling the oil down the cable. You can also spray the length of the outside of the cable (if it's not plastic coated) and the WD40 will work its way through.
