Dizzy? I am.

If a v8 HEI dizzy was positioned as per the Holdenpaedia diagram, i.e. position 1 on dizzy oriented more to the left side of the block, and running great. And after a tamper it is 180 degrees rotated from original position. still great.
Should it be rotated that far? is that really advanced? or same diff? The penny won't drop.

what have I done?

That's correct. The rotation of the Distributor is to allow the module to have clearance.

"And after a tamper it is 180 degrees rotated from original position. still great."

Agree.

The first image shows a Breaker Point Distributor with Body in the original position. It has been set to the No. 1 firing position.

The second image shows the entire Distributor removed and reinstalled by 180 deg.

The timing has been fully preserved at the No. 1 firing position because the Plug Leads, Body and Rotor are still positioned to fire Plug No. 1..
