Blue 3.3 heater hose connected differently

Hi guys

My HQ has had a 3.3 blue motor transplanted into it a long time before I purchased it. The heater hose layout seem to be a bit different to what I've seen in pics. When standing in front of the engine Is it common to have both right hand spigots of the thermostat housing linked and the single left spigot of the thermostat housing going to the heater and the one spiggot from the water pump going to the heater?

Is this good, bad or not an issue?

HQ's had a coolant heated Inlet Manifold.
Blue Motors had an exhaust heated Inlet Manifold.

Your engine has the Coolant Heating Path blocked off.

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

"Is it common to have both right hand spigots of the thermostat housing linked"

Yes.

"and the single left spigot of the thermostat housing going to the heater"

Yes.

"and the one spiggot from the water pump going to the heater?"

Yes.

"Is this good, bad or not an issue? "

It's as good a solution to your problem as you will find.

Whether the Thermostat Housing is HQ or pre-HQ won't matter, Coolant will be forced out the Thermostat Housing leftmost pipe and returned via the Water Pump connection.

Ok so is it blocked off? Or is it good? - I can't find a flow diagram anywhere?

So the way I see it the loop linking the two ports on the right hand side cancel each other out so we can forget about those

Also can I remove the not used EGR switch screwed into the top of the head and fit a digital temp sender or is there a better point in the system to fit a sender to? This car scares the [Naughty Pottyword] out of me in that I can't see the engine temp at a glance.

It isn't blocked off. Coolant flows from the top of the head via the Thermostat hosing. From there is goes to the heater. From the Heater it returns to the block via the Water Pump.

Correct.

In the link I gave you this image appears ...

This the way VB - VK Commodores handle the heater. They have no right hand side connections since they aren't needed.

Yes you can. The Dash Temp Gauge Sender is mounted here ...

I guess that's why some people prefer the warning bulb.
