Nearly There

Well i decided to just get the 253 freshened up. Old cam lobes were nearly round. Valves did not seal, head gasket leaked a little and she still got 9l/100klm on the freeway. So now she has new heads (std) rings and bearings, Crow 5666 cam, Edelbrock manifold, 4BL Quadrajet (rebuilt) and extractors. Engine bay has been rewired and a new aluminium radiator.
Will get the diff looked at in Jan and decided if it can be fixed or if i have to look at alternatives.
Got to admit, i am hanging to get back behind the wheel!!

And as an added bonus, the wife think it looks "pretty"

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the 5666 cam HX-Prem. Are you driving with the new donk yet?

Hi 2HQ's, will let you know when i get it back. Should be mid/late next week. Waiting for the sparky to finish rewiring.
It has a LSD Salisbury (3.08) which used to whine before i put some Royal gold in it. I want to get it fixed up, but it appears that ring and pinion gears (new) can not be bought.
Anyone have any thoughts?

she looks good mate!!

I think its pretty common for the 3.08 ratio salisburys to get a whine up, my wb did from memory between 60 and 90kmh?? and over the years I have heard the same from several statesman owners... you MAY be able to get the whine taken care of by having a diff shop set up the gear mesh pattern back to specs, but sometimes they just cant be fixed.

Thanks Ben. The royal gold certainly tamed the whine. Might just take it in, see what they think, and if the gears are ok then get new clutches and bearings. would like to keep it in as that is what it left the factory with, and i don't need anything stronger.
Anyone recommend someone to look at this for me?
