rollers or not??

Hey guys, I got hold of a Yella Terra stage 2 head for my 202. It doesnt come with rocker gear, just wondering what, if any, advantages there would be if I put the YT roller rockers on it. Any tips would be greatly apreciated.

thanks

I personally think roller rockers are worth the $$$. Advantages:-

1. Reduced side loading of valves, reduces valve guide wear.
2. Less noise.
3. Slightly more power.
4. Street cred :)

Don't you need a roller cam to run roller rockers (never had a car with roller rockers until the VY...)?

Your confusing roller (tip) rocker arms with roller lifters/cams.

Roller rockers have a single roller bearing at the contact face of the valve stem.

Roller lifters are lifters with a roller contacting the cam lobe. Roller cams are specially ground for this work.

Dnar I agree with some of your points but I would suggest that for the money spent on rollers you could invest in stuff that gives more performance or better looks or better rubber or better accessories. Street cred? Who gives a rat's posterior about bragging rights? It's when the pedal goes down it counts and rollers are not going to make that difference unless everything else is at the maximum.

Take it easy, the Street Cred point was in jest!

As far as I am concerned, roller rockers are a good investment in terms of engine longevity (power aint everything). In the long run, reduced guide wear delivers better power in the long run, as you dont end up (or not as soon) with an oil burner through leaking guides and leaking guides = burning oil = loss of power and economy.

Roller rockers are much stronger thus flex less that factory pressed rocker arms, an important factor with higher lift/stronger valve spring setups in modified engines.

I stand by my comments and recommendations.

Take it easy ? TAKE IT EASY!!!
Mate I'm so laid back I'm practically comatose. I appreciated the tongue-in-cheek comment.
My point was that most people could probably spend the money better than go to rollers straight away, they give very little straight out performance.
I do agree with you as far as that goes tho.
cheers.

I two think the rockers are worth the effort, if they were not, why would the big boys in drag racing use them?

Like everything else on earth roller rockers have points for and against them . While it is true there nis a slight wear advantage in the top end and less flex at high revs , they are a fair bit heavier than standard rockers thus adding weight to your valve train and slowing down revability of your engine , extra strain on push rods , lifters ect , tho you should be using molybdinum push rods and (if hydrolic ) anti pump-up lfters . Unless you are making BIG neddies stick with the lighter option .

I love Clevelands
