Asuming your hydraulic system is working OK, ie slave cylinder, master cylinder etc I would say the return spring from the pedal up under the dash that goes back to the pedal box has come off or has broken. Get under there with a torch and have a look.
Hope that helps.

Hey dude,
I had a similar problem in my HX. It had a hydro clutch on a celica box. The problem was the pedal would go real hard half way to the floor. Was getting a real sore knee from driving it. A few weeks ago the slave cylinder blew. Luckily it happened just as I got home in the driveway. The cause was the fork and the cylinder were slightly out of line which ment the pushrod was on a slight angle putting the load of the clutch on one side of the cylinder. The cylinder wall was badly scored one that side which caused the lousey opperation. May not be the prob but it may help.

its not the clutch if its doi
its not the clutch if its doing that it either works or it doesnt....its either cable is worn/kinked or clutch fork is stuffed
