When the clutch drops, the bull[Naughty Pottyword]ting stops...

Usually youll find that it is condensation mixed with carbon from your exhaust giving it the black colour, but it could be oily [Naughty Pottyword] like my friends VK used to do.. ruined a nice pair of my jeans.. wasnt happy.

Hey,
My EH is doing it after I put a WW stromberg and 186s intake on it. It can be condensation but with that amount of it, it is more then likely fuel, black from carbon dust in the pipes. Check your timing, fuel/air mixture and points. Pretty much give it a good tune or pay some one to do it for you.

Just my 5cent worth

its running leccy ignion, no points... timing's been done, its been to 2 performance machanics (including the engine builder) and a performance carby specialist still no answers as to why its running so rich and fouling plugs like crazy. i got 3kms out of my last plugs.

My Torrie did the same when I got it. Had Holley 350 on it. Over jetted and idle screws f$%ked. Pulled off the holley for triple SUs and no more black stuff :)

Are you using unleaded fuel without a catalytic converter? If so, this is pretty common and may have nothing to do with the size of the jets in your carby. The cat normally catches this stuff and burns it off once it's warmed up. If it only does it on cold start it's just condensation and not much to worry about, apart from the stain on the garage floor or whoever's car is parked behind you. The plug fouling could again be fuel related or wrong heat range plug. try a hotter plug not a colder one.

im already running bpr 5fs-15's!!! no one stocks anything hotter than that!!! ive ordered a set of 4's from repco but they have to come from interstate. as for ur questions, i only ever fill up with 98 optimax and flashlube, and its running a straight though 2.25inch exhaust system with redback glass pack mufflers up under the front floor pans from a set of pacemaker tuned length extractors. inside my ehaust is filthy, really powerdy black carbon, so it doesnt suprise me that the liquid coming out is black... the only thing thats had me concerned is that this never happened b4 it started with this engine trouble. the guy at repco reckons the geometery of the engine is off causeing the secondary bowls to splash over into the primaries... i dunno about that, maybe thats why he works are repco and doesnt own a performance engine building shop??? anyway cars going into yet ANOTHER carby specialist today for an analysis... this is the 3rd one in 2 weeks.

The liquid will most likely be water from condensation.

The black stuff is carbon from running too rich. Don't forget that if it has been doing this for a while, the exhaust system will be full of it. The carb might be okay now, but the carbon will not all clear from the pipes immediately. It'll take some time (perhaps several hundred kms) for it to be all blown out. Until then it will continue to come out the back!

I read that you are running flashlube.
IIRC the directions state 1ml for every L of fuel.
You could try running less than that and see if it helps...
IMHO 1:1000 ratio is still pretty rich.

Never Drive A Car Younger Than Yourself!

This is very common, I see it all the time in race cars. It is partially the mixture dumping excessive fuel into the exhaust, and the condensation the occurs while the car is sitting and the oxygen within the system cools down and then mixes with the fuel/carbon deposits.

This also ruined a good pair of blue jeans. I now wear black whilst on site.

Send me stuff

One major product produced when burning any hydrocarbon is plain old water, H2O... in cold pipes this condenses out of the gasses and mixes with the black crap in the pipes and comes out like this. Its nothing to worry about mate.
