The Hemisphere???????????

i have a diff centre with ratio 3.9 i want to put in my LJ torry but its 23 spline and my axles are 10 spline so instead of changing my axles to suit the new diff centre the guy said just to change the "HEMISPHERE" over can someone explain whats the hemisphere and is it hard to change over?

Model:

Comments

the hemishpere could be one of two things. It could be the "upper", or northern, hemisphere, or the "lower", sounthern hemisphere. They are seperated by an invisible line called the equator.
You know which one it is by when christmas is, if its snowy outside, its the northern. If its nice and hot beach type weather, its the southern.

Hope this helps.

Why bother, your not funny and sign in smart arse!

To answer the question without being a dickhead about it, the hemisphere is the centre less carrier and crownwheel, the very centre of the centre. You have a fine spline centre and you need a coarse spline one to suit your axles. 3.90:1 is a common ratio in earlier model Holdens say from the FE-FC era. Its also not very popular so you could pick up a whole centre very cheaply. Easier to get a whole centre cheaply than to bother swapping hemispheres. 3.90:1 is a crap ratio anyway unless you have a 3 speed crashbox.
