Old grey engine removal

G'day, I've finally started the task of pulling the 138 engine out of my EJ sedan to put it in my wagon, but I'm after a bit of advice.

Is it easier to pull the whole engine and box out as one, or separate and remove the engine on it's own? If it makes a difference, the sedan is an auto and wagon is manual.

Also, would it be difficult to convert the wagon from manual to auto?

Cheers

I usually pull them out together.
You would have big problems with the floor and rear crossmember going from a manual to auto. The auto floor hump is bigger so the auto box won't fit under a manual floor.
Hop underneath and look at both crossmember, they are different.
Other than the floor and crossmember everything bolts in.

Old is good.

Cheers, I thought I'd have to pull them out together. That'll be tomorrows task.

I was hoping that the floors would be the same, considering so many parts on these old girls are interchangeable. But if not, I'll just leave the wagon a manual. It just means the missus can't drive it... oh well... Haha
