red six inlet manifold

Are there any inlet manifolds available that will make any noticable difference to a standard 186 with a standard carby? or not worth the effort without a wider package?

redline torkers are good, although if your taking the carby off why not put a 34 adm weber on it? Much better power and economy than the standard one.

I dont want a Holley thanks.
Probably wouldnt be into making adaptors if I dont know if it will give any difference but will keep it in mind.thanks
Hadnt thought about a weber. Dont know anything about them. Will it hook up to my standard linkages or does it need a cable setup? more expense but worth a thought.

I wouldn't waist the time and money on another manifold unless your going to change the carb

Easy, use a 186S manifold and carby. Will make a difference even on a std. motor and will only need a bit of fiddling to get the linkages hooked up.

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

Try this.....

or http://www.ebay.com....

or spend a little time at the wreakers with a set of calipers. Not all Red 6 manifolds are the same size. I have long forgoten the numbers, but I have to use a single strommy on the race car. I use a big 1"& 9/32 on a large inlet manifold on top a worked 186..goes well.
The rules dont allow for 350 Holley's etc. I think the bigger inlet manifold is also used on the first Red 6 (VB Commy or HZ?) that was fitted with EGR valve.....better get the calipers out :)

Spoken to a few drivers over the years, they buy all the std manifolds possible, have them flow tested, as factory casting wasn't as good as each other.
I'd concentrate on the exhaust first, buy the best available/you can afford.

They don't make em like they used too!

I just transplanted a 186 into my HK and wanted to breathe a bit more life into it. It had extractors so the feeling from other members is to run a 2 inch exhaust, and get a twin barrell stromberg with manifold to suit. I bought a reconditioned twin strommy that came with a manifold. Looks like the standard one I pulled off it.

Apparently the holleys over fuel it unless the engine has had some internal work done to keep up with it.
