Battery Charger

Hi Guys,
I have a battery that has been sitting in a crumpledoor down the back (still connected to car) that is completely flat - i mean dead flat not even registering any volts. It's only a year old and has been sitting behind the chook shed for about 3 months, I noticed when I parked it that the radio did not switch off when the ignition was turned off but somewhere along the way it has been on the whole time - hence flaaaaat battery. Anyway my question is how can I charge it when its so flat as the charge light won't even come on when I connect it to the charger - apparently my charger needs the battery to register 3 volts before it starts charging the battery, would that be right? If so are all chargers like that and if so is the battery had it? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Craig

By now the Battery will be heavily Sulphated meaning one or more Cells will be shorted. In other words a layer of material will be lying on the bottom of those Cells, electrically connecting all the Plates of each Cell together (undesirable).

This is evidenced by the Cell boiling heavily under Charging or Discharging. Always wear Eye Protection when working near Batteries.

Only Deep Cycle Batteries can be heavily discharged and recovered because they have extra Space between the Plates and the Battery Casing.

This is why Deep Cycle Batteries are physically larger for the same Capacity as a non-Deep Cycle Battery.

The Battery is now useless.
