VS SS being used as donor for HG Brougham Rebuild

Hey Guys,

I have an HG Brougham that has been sitting in my shed for a couple of years now waiting to be rebuilt. The original engine is long gone and has been replaced with a 253 thats shagged.
And now have obtained a VS SS (that has been slid sideways into a pole.) from which I plan to transplant the 304 which seems in good nick having done 150K and appears to have been looked after.

Curious as to what else from the SS may be useful for the Brougham rebuild, and if anyone has used these parts for an HG rebuild before such as trans, diff, disc brakes etc.

Car is in NZ so different engine is not as much of a problem for compliance.

Any suggestions around trans, or tips on what to avoid etc would be much appreciated.

Use the trans and diff as well mate, worth the effort to fit them

Have seen a HT/G with the entire dash installed, including intergratede air con.

VS have a lot of security intergrated, so might b best to get VN wiring and computer.

Engine bay wiring is basically same as VN, the security is in the computer, send that away and they can remove the vats (vehicle auto theft system). If your running the VS auto you need the VS computer as this controls the auto, you can't do this with a VN computer, so VN is not easier

Any idea on what it would cost to remove the vats? And is is worth remapping when getting this done
Also just out of interest what happens (or doesnt happen) if vats is not disabled?

Vats removal is about $200, remapping if it's a standard motor just leave it, advance your dizzy to 12deg and that will wake it up a bit, If you don't remove vats your car won't start, simple

Thanks again for the help - figured you needed to remove vats and was just curious as to what it would do, given that its a security function that makes good sense though.
