HJ column shift indicator (broken)

Hi guys

Ive got a '75 HJ 1- tonner currently under a full restoration; I have recently discovered a small? issue with the column shift indicator. This is the small panel that resides under the speedo, and the small needle that indicates 1, 2, D, N, R, P. The needle refuses to move when I select gears, and after pulling the assembly apart it was discovered that the paper-thin wire that moves the needle was broken.

Can anyone tell me if this wire is replaceable? Or repairable? Any help on this would be fantastic.
Cheers

I vaguely remember using fishing line many years ago.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy car parts, and that makes me happy :)

Hello all,
I've also got a hj trimatic with a dodgy indicator wire, so...
I've got the leader wire ready to go but I'm struggling to work out the correct path to run the wire. The previous owner has probably already had a go and failed and as a result there are no clues as to the correct routing.

Can anyone help out?

I haven't looked at if for a while, but sitting in the seat the wire will run out the RHS of the indicator window down to the steering column, around the bottom then back up to the shift stalk. I think. As I say, it's been a while.
From memory the spring will pull the indicator to the "1" position when the cable snaps, it might taken a little trial and error to get the preload/length correct so the indicator sits nicely at "P" when in park.
