Swap LSD carrier with open wheeler?

Hi all

Got a 74 gts 4 with a 278 10 bolt LSD wanting to change to 308 ratio. Picked up an open wheeler 308 fom a tonner housing. Is there any reason anyone knows of why I wouldn't be able to fit the LSD carrier off the 278 centre to the 308 centre and fit the 308 centre to the 278 housing.
And if not a problem anything special I need to know about?

10 bolt LSD

all good, swap them straight over then check pinion preload and backlash, shim if required (new preload spacers may be hard to find)
PS 3.55:1 is more fun!!

you can't be unlucky all of the time!!!

They don't fit each other.

The 3.08 crown wheel will not fit the 2.78 carrier. 2.60 and 2.78 carriers are different to 3.08, 3.36 and 3.55 type.

different carriers

The 2.78 ratio is different from a 3.08, 3.36 & 3.55 ratio.

Qboy

agreed

2.60 and 2.78 are different to the rest

- Theres no replacement for displacement-

Thanks

Thanks for advice. Bit dissapointing. Might just lock the 308 for now. Don't want to spend too much on a 10 bolt for now. Bigger plans down the track. 2.78 just too tall to be any fun.

Hi, are you looking at
