HQ GTS Coupe for Sale

G'day All.

I have a much loved original '71 308 Manual GTS Coupe and due to a divorce settlement looks like we may have to part company.

At present she is unlicensed but had been driveable until I took her off the road to begin the resto, which has only got to me removing the interior trim - which is all there - and the passenger door.

Can you blokes give me an idea of what price to expect to sell for? I have had a look at ebay and a few other sites, but cannot find another similar car to compare with.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Jacko.

What can I say except for good luck! If you purchased the vehicle prior to marrying the nagger then tell her to go and take a flying leap, and if not then it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it in it's current condition. So pick a number and then halve it.

Having things prior to the marriage does not been they are out of reach.

The courts will look at a "pool" of assets of the marriage.....then divvy it out.

Just because you bought it before you got married does not exclude it from the pool.

Sorry pal, you're f*cked.

Been there, done that myself.....that's how my HG GTS Monaro went south........... :(

Still, on a brighter note.....a few years later you'll think it was all worth it. :)

Unless, of course, he is actually sad that the marriage is ending. It does happen that ex-partners treat each other respectfully, during the unfortunately legal/financial dealings.

It does happen.

HK'ing.

'i'm definately shore that guage wont work with my tuff bango diff and Opal sydcrome box,if it goes though my grill, and I put the breaks on I realize its better with the glimer belt & tunned holly and Ederbrock duel feul webber gaurds, wiht etc primmer.'

Well, it has been known to happen....but it's rare.

I'm sure he is sad his marriage is ending (well, maybe) but now it's going to be a tussle over assets as she'll be out to get everything she can.

That's what usually happens.

Of course, my sample size is almost everyone I've ever heard of who's got divorced, so I think it's on the money.

I don't think that anyone is happy to see a marriage end, but sometimes there just isn't any other options, and they say that divorce and death both share the same human emotions so there's usually many tears shed. As for the respect during the settlement, lawyers love a good financial war as it pays for their children's educations, fortunately now there's a mediation process which removes much of the legal generated nonsense prior to entering the family law courts, if it even gets that far that is.

I guess it depends on what state you're in and how good your lawyer is! I believe that in the eastern states the divorce settlements usually fall 70/30 where in SA it's 60/40. And how do I know this, well when the nagger ran off with the oger she moved to Vic and enlisted a Vic Lawyer who kept sending me the usual legal diatribe, which is just that and shouldn't be taken seriously unless it's directly from the Family Law Court. However prior to it going before the courts in SA the mediator put them back in their place reminding them that here in SA the settlement is 60/40 and not 70/30 as what was occurring in the eastern states. I had possessions prior to marriage as did she, and those possessions were excluded from the settlement process, one which was a collectable vehicle and the other which were my instruments and guns all of which had been gifted to me prior to marriage, (I had borrowed the money from my parents which could be proven as payment for the items, and had repaid the monies to my parents which couldn't be proven by her lawyer, so they were gifts?). She also missed out on other tangible assets which were held in my own families trust account, something of which annoyed her to no end. I'm just glad that my parents were smart enough to protect me in my younger days, all whilst my ex had truly convinced me that me parents were too controlling ...tee hee!.

Fair enough.

Each case will be looked at on its merits....looks like you did ok.

Just as a general rule though, get good legal advice...don't take some internet bozos word for it :)

It may appear so, however she still walked away with 60% of "our joint assets" which far outweighed a car and a handful of some boys toys. Fortunately for me my parents were able to minimised my losses via proof of payment, however those assets were as far as I'm concerned mine or were gifts given to me prior to marriage.

That's exactly right.

As a general rule of thumb...if you possess balls then you're going to get screwed.

That's pretty much how it goes.

She was just a whiskey maker, but I loved her still.

My wife and I almost split 7 years ago. We tried to keep things between us, however... she was 'persuaded' into getting a lawyer. She (yeah... another woman) got snotty, and it then got expensive. I had no choice but to lawyer up, and it got even more expensive. A good friend of ours (another woman) had a word to the missus, we had a word with each other, and everything was cleared up (our friend received a bunch of flowers... and we bought her Aussie VN Calais).
We were both to blame (her more than me:) but we worked things out, and now we are best friends again.
Can you not come to some arrangement where you keep the car in exchange for something she wants?
Good luck with your situation.

Time to strip it down to its undies and put the tags somewhere safe, car will be worth nothing to someone assessing a shed full of car parts, particularly if its not complete.
