Fuel and gearbox questions

Gday all,

I have a 77 HX Kingswood that runs on LPG. As i believe this is a tragedy im converting it back to fuel. I havent had much, if any, experience with LPG and doing the conversion back to fuel so any help, suggestions, comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. Is it hard to convert it back to fuel? Im also chasing a fuel tank if anyone has one they want to get rid of.

I have also been through two W55 Supra gearboxes behind my 308. I have spoken to various people and their views differ greatly about these boxes. My 308 isnt modified, im unsure of the exact power output of it but its a fairly standard 308 so why do i keep breaking these gearboxes? I dont thrash the box, the gears or the engine. I was thinking of installing a T5 or an M21, how do these boxes hold up behind a 308 and how hard are they to convert to fit?

Thanks all

not hard to do.....just source all ya required bits from various wreckers etc , then take the heads off and have the unleaded petrol valve seats put in.....then you can tune it to ULP and enjoy it the way nature intended

If your project doesn't work, look for the part you didn't think was important.

Righto, seems simple enough. Any idea if gas systems can be sold to wreckers? I have tried to google this stuff but there seems to be a limited amount of info.

Thanks very much for your help mate

If you know nothing about gas get a gas installer to do the removal for you before you blow yourself or someone else up.
You can then put the gas kit on Ebay.

Firstly! If you have any gas left in the gas cylinder/tank, make sure you close the valve/tap off, so no gas leaks out when you undo the lines.

If any gas leaks out, think of it like water, it doesn't just disappear into the air, it sits on the ground, (it's heavier than air.

So for example, if you had the gas leak out of your tank, and you have a pit in your garage, or you think, no worries, I'll do it outside and there is a low spot or hollow in the yard, the gas will pool there, but unlike water, you can't see it, so one spark and BOOM!

It's not too hard to swap back, but you do need to be carefull!

Trace everything carefully, step by step, removing lines etc. When fitting the fuel system, it would pay to have a shop manual, to help you follow where things should be.

Annnnd, of course, you have old Holden to refer to - Holdenpeadia and put up questions if you get stuck as you go.

its no big deal just unscrew every thing you see, but run the tank low first as they are pretty heavy when full.
the tap is on the top of the tank near the outlet pipe. do the job outside so you don't get gas hanging around you will get a bit of leakage from gas already in the line.
put the setup in the trading post or something there are free papers around.
check the date on the tank if it is less than 10 years old it does not have to be tested. if it has to be tested junk it they cost about $200 to get retested and you probably won't get that much for it.
get the new petrol tank first.
Unless you love pulling cylinder heads off and spending around $300 plus gaskets etc don't bother getting it converted to unleaded valves just run Moreys it costs about $60 for the kit it automatically injects upper cylinder lubricant and a litre goes a long way.
if you have to recon the motor at some stage get the valves done then.
