RWC TIME :)

Hi all,

Well its almost time to get the VB on the road. I'm taking it to a mechanic tomorow to get the front end and brakes looked at and then hes going to look over it for a roadworthy.

Just wondering if I NEED to have a spare tyre ad a jack in there to pass?

Some people have told me you do and others have said you dont need it but if you do have it it needs to have enough tread and jack must work.

If I do need them, will a retread with enough tread pass? and does it have to be the stock jack or can i just grab one out of my dads ute?

Cheers
James

Dont know about any other state by in VIC, used to do RWC. but if a spare tyre is present it must be of roadworthy condition, cant remember about a jack though. Remember though that alot of vehicles now dont even have a spare tyre.
Hope this helps
Jamie.

Thats what ive been told, but when you say "If it is present is has to be roadworthy" do you mean i dont have to take one at all?

spare tyre and a jack if the spare is there, it must be roadworthy, and MUST be secured as well, as the jack and tools must be secure.
You don't have to have one.

Hi James. Maybe you should fit the jack and spare after all. Were you not to, and they DO actually say something you'd have the time and hassle of getting the items. If they're in from the beginning, you're guaranteed of having NO probs at all :-)
I hate having to lug around all that heavy metal in my boot, much less the loss of boot space. I have gone about 20 years without a puncture too, and driving at least 22 000 km a year. That was until recently, when a major blowout pulled me up real quick on a busy road, just 150 metres from the front gate of my school too - ha! It was then that I was glad it has always been with me and that I'd checked it's condition and pressure every few months. I was sorted and on the road in just a few minutes.

HK'ing.

'i'm definately shore that guage wont work with my tuff bango diff and Opal sydcrome box,if it goes though my grill, and I put the breaks on I realize its better with the glimer belt & tunned holly and Ederbrock duel feul webber gaurds, wiht etc primmer.'

Thanks for the tip mate,

I dropped the car off today to the mechanic because he needs to do some work to a few things for me and then hes most likely going to do a roadworthy on it.
There isnt a spare in it at the moment but i have one in dads ute when I go in, so if he asks me for one i'll give him that one and if it doesnt have enough tread on it i'll just get him to chuck the cheapest tyre on it to pass it. and i'll just grab the jack out of the ute and put that in if he realy wants it in there.

Yea I need to invest in a jack and wheel brace for it incase i do get a flat, it will always be when there is no spare or jack in the car that I get the flat. lol

might need it for other stuff too. aussie 4 speed linkage issues were usally sorted by driving up on the highest gutter you can find, safer than getting under a jacked up car!

She was just a whiskey maker, but I loved her still.
