We have some TOP quality units, Phillips, Samsung etc and some Chinese cheapies and they all seem to work well. No distortion, dropout etc. We do have a good quality Kigray masthead amp and 8 way splitter, as well as that we recently upgraded to quad core RG6 cable. $100 to do the whole house. easy... Antannae is just a Bunnings purchased Hills VHF-UHF unit, cost $150 I think...
Not sure about whose responsibility it is but as I said I have a brand new aerial here which is yours if you come and get it. Not that far to drive for crystal clear TV :)
PS: You'll need the cooks bus as no way this is fitting in the Ford or munro. lol
If the property requires an aerial or the aerial that's currently located on the property is faulty then it would be the responsibility or the landlord to supply and or replace it. However if the tenant wants something upgraded say such as a ceiling fan in a bedroom or even a digital aerial then that should be negotiated with the landlord when the lease comes up for renewal. However the landlord isn't bound by law to install or upgrade appliances as a property is generally leased on an as is basis, so any further requirements by a proposed tenant should be negotiated prior to the tenant and the landlord signing the lease agreement.
Not the landlords responsibility, sorry. You pay rent for the premises, working toilet, shower/bath, hot water, kitchen facilities etc. TV aerials/wiring are not part of the rental agreement. As a matter of fact, if the tenant wants to install an aerial and lead into the property, he must have the approval of the landlord to do so or the landlord can deduct from the bond an amount to cover the removal of the aerial and repair of any holes etc made by the installation of the aerial and lead.
Lamp i aint played with yet although i thought i seen that old girl peeking around the corner of the lounge room just a second ago...
The old old style antenna has a lot of problems around these parts with the new high def t.v so our new one wont get 10 1 11 and all the abc channels, i have been told to upgrade to a digital aerial.

Blissy if the property has an antenna when you rented the property they are responable to repair an faulty items and not charge you anything in the process, if you what extra outlets installed yes you will have to pay.
don't know where your located but check out http://www.quatrixan...
i work for them.
I'd put it to the landlord that having up to date fixtures such as a digital aerial will make the property more valuable if he ever decides to sell. That $150 aerial, despite its' small cost, in its' absence may have a price lowering effect much greater $150.
If I were to buy a property with a clearly visible out of date fixture I'd want to lower the value of the place by thousands before purchase, as I have other fixtures in mind that I'd also expect to be out of date and need to spend a lot to have updated.
bliss
While your waiting you can do up the coathanger aeriel, these are good. http://www.google.co...
Does it need to be updated?
I'm using the same one that's been on my house since 1989. No problems with digital. I never even gave it a thought.....

The tuner in the tv is sometimes more sensitive like in a newer tv or brand xyz, so worth testing too.
