Almost good enough to leave in.

Pulled the old 179 out yesterday, had a look at no3 caps, not bad I reckon! Considering I fitted them back in August 1996! Says a lot for regular oil changes... and, not thrashing it when cold.
Dropped (well, placed it gently) the new 202 in this morning, just giving the back a rest, should have it all going tomorrow, I have to take my youngest daughter to school on Monday.

Gosh...

I feel so accepted now, really! So many H pics, so much info, finally... I'm one of the few. The new 202 looks so purty... be a shame to use it! Didn't get her going today, but tomorrow is on the cards. Head's on, water is in, waiting for the new lifters to fill with oil, carbs are set to 2000rpm on startup, can't wait!!!

They don't make em like they used too!

Like everything else....

I'll get around to it, wait.. I have one.... it's round, and has 'too it' written on it!
Got the 202 going today, ran the cam in... 2300rpm for an hour, watching for leaks, reset the stereo, unusual noises etc, nuthin'! Set the timing properly, checked the mixtures with the ColourTune, took her for a quick spin down the road n back, should be real good when run in. Still not sure on the economy, watched the needle drop during cam runin, hopefully gets better when the whole thing loosens up a bit. Was the main reason we got shot of the 3.3 VK we had.... couldn't make it economical to save meself!

EST VK Improvement

I'm happy with both EFI 3.3 VK's.

Have you seen LMH's EST improvement page ? ... http://holdenpaedia....

EFI vs carbs.

Mate had an efi VK, went well but was hungry as a real hungry thing. He didn't have it long. Ours was carbed, I fitted extractors, mandrel zorst, full tune, still too hungry as a family car. I never got around to fitting the twin SU's I made for it (sold it to get the VN). Even built a 'nice' 186 to replace the 3.3, never fitted that either. First time we took it away (800km) it was a race between the speedo and the fuel guage. Got to Nanas, the missus was unloading the car as I was jacking it up making sure the brakes weren't binding. And... this was way back when fuel was about $1.10/ltr. It's now 'down' to $1.98/ltr.

They don't make em like they used too!
