shorter shifter

G'day im looking at shortening the shifter on my m21 behind 308. ive just had the box rebuilt and id like to quicken up the gear changes as well as lessen the chances of "missed" gear changes. Has anyone done this recently? id like to know how much i should be taking off without gettin too carried away?

I shortened mine down about 5" ok - works great. Also you will notice the 3rd/4th shift lever on the box is longer - I also made a new lever the same length as the 1st/2nd lever. Much quicker thru gears. Would also recommend close inspection of shifter - any wear on the selector points can be built up with weld and filed back to reduce chance of slipping "between" gears
