Ive got a hk kingswood and my sealed beam lights are dull.
Does anyone know if you if you can install halogen units or HID lights that still keep the original shape and look?

Thanks

Hella H4 conversion with good new style HID blue globes. They have flat lenses but are as good as driving lights if you run them through a relay.
A thousand people could probably look at the car these days before one picked them as not original.

Old is good.

My HK Prem has H4's for both high & low beams, they are the same shape as the originals and a closer look is required to pick them.

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

I did the halogen conversion many years back, and then had a relay fitted so I could run 100w 'globes'. (What do we really call those light-emitting things? They're not really globe shaped, are they.)

Like the others above, the face of the glass insert is pretty close to flat, instead of the rounded convex surface of the old 'sealed beams'.

They were a big improvement, and I'm sure you'll appreciate the extra illumination if you do the swap. I drove a mid 90's Subaru wagon recently and the even on high-beam, the standard Subie lights weren't nearly as bright as my halogen inserts.

I'm not sure the the reflectors in mine are an ideal shape, as the beam does seem to light up a lot of random space and wildlife that is a higher and a fair bit wide of the road surface....

I might swap to a set of those 'crystal style' inserts that I saw at Rare Spares. Check out the pics of the blue ute in Chopper75's shed. He put a set of these extra shiny units on, and you can see if they're discreet enough for you.

HK'ing - dull.

you can buy the H4 lights with a 'rounded' front lens, also some one one bay is selling the original style with H4 bulbs, Lindsay.

Get the H4 conversion. I found the lenses made by Narva were heaps better than the hella units I put on my HQ. They were alot cheaper to. Got them from Ashdowns. Also used the H4 +50 globe and they put out some light. HID is overrated for the price.
