a beauty...a bit quicker than my 53 year old 161 Low Compression HR engine..!...I'm tempted to get some increases but I'm thinking how many original 161 Low Compression engines would be around ? In fact the LC engine just had a 186 head put on it...

It was only a temporary thing, I was going to do it before & I fitted them because I had them.

Great job Doc. That really is a nice engine and engine bay (neat/tidy without being over blinged). I bet you’ll notice the difference immediately with the 34ADM both performance and economy. As I’ve mentioned before I’ve been running dual 34ADM’s on my mild 225 Slant. I see you’ve got the electronic choke wired up, I didn’t bother, starts first kick even after sitting for 2 months.
I’ll keep an eye out on EBay and Gumtree for the dual snorkel “genuine super rare LJ XU2” air cleaner

Very tasty. Firewall is 1963-1966 “A” body.
I can’t locate the pics of mine when it was all nice and fresh and clean, I’ll try and get a grubby/grotty pic in the morning (although I’d feel somewhat embarrassed in comparison to your delightful engine bay)

Hi there. What kinda economy are you getting out of this now? and any major improvement in throttle response and power output etc? Looking to do this conversion for a new hq 202 block I'd rebuilt at 40thou with acl duralite 2's with 7cc piston dish and 173 blue closed chamber head & crow 35603 cam. I've got a few xe weber carbies here to spare and would like to give it a go sometime soon to see what happens. Would be great if it's worth the effort. I'm looking to try increase the fuel economy on my oldgirl vk. Currently running toyota w50 5-speed with a set of stock vx commie 16's on the back.

I'd rather drive my old holden than a new ford!

The only thing I've got to compare it to was a pair of twin stromburgs & it's a slight gain on performance but economy wise it's much better, my setup is 202 + 20thou,12cc dish tops with 9.75/1 comp ratio, XU1 spec'ed match ported 161 head, X2 headers with engine pipes into a 2 inch free flow muffler with a 2 inch mandrel bent system ,VK efi cam, rebuilt & recurved VH electronic dizzy to match the cam, 253 spec'ed trimatic,3.08 LSD & 225/60 15's.
I've did a rough test so far & it's about 19 ltrs per a 100k's & it's on par with a few other trimatic 202's I've had.

Woah! Would you consider that to be good economy for that kinda engine configuration? Is that town mileage, or highway use?

It's an auto & it ain't stock.
It's all local with a top speed of around 80kph, what I do know is my speedo reads pretty accurate as I've tested it with the GPS & I don't flock it & with the 3.08 combined with the 225/60 15's it's setup for a combination of local & highway cruising & she loves causing at 110kph.

That'd sound about right. I don't do much over 100Kp/h here, but at 100K's I'm doing around 2200rpm in 5th gear. That's with toyota w50 5 speed, 3.36 diff and 225/70/r16's. That's probably where I get my economy. I do mostly highway miles, and very little city.

yeah, I guess being an auto it'd use a little more fuel over a 5-speed. The diff ratio and tyre size sounds good. I'd imagine it'd move along quite nicely with the weber on there?
