WB Project original or Custom?

Hi Guys
i am looking at starting WB project soon and am trying to work out whether to do it original or custom as I’d love to put a V8 in it. Ute is my Uncles old farm Ute so has sentimental value, he drove it for 10 plus yrs then when it stopped it went into the shed where it’s been sitting for last 30+yrs. It’s manufacture date is April 1980, 202, 3 on the tree so considering it was from the original release date am I better to keep original?..
Cheers

If it hasn’t been altered to much when it was a farm hack and all its integral parts are in tact, I’d be inclined to leave it original. Modified utes (and others, sedans etc) are done to death, as nice as they are, at car shows you don’t often see utes in there stock form (unless it’s All Holden Day)

I leave it and restore it
Anyone can rebuild and modified a car the real challenge is restoring it stock, if it’s all there then that’s a bonus
But as I always say
It’s your car and your money so it’s up to you what you want to do with it 😎

If it's mostly stock and in reasonable condition I'd seriously consider restoring it. If it's not build it the way you want but maybe try and limit modifications to bolt-on so if later down the track you decide to restore it you can.

I was faced with a similar dilemma a few years back when I got my HQ handed down from my father. It was bought new by my grandfather and then owned by my father for many years. When I got it the original driveline was long gone so I restored the exterior including the original paint colour and had the interior done in a period correct style. For the driveline I fitted a 308, T400 and 10 bolt diff combo I had laying around. I've limited myself to bolt-on mods so if I ever get the urge I can easily restore it back to original.

To this fellow members Question
Yes I did what I wanted 20 years ago
Yes the outside is looking Original
But it’s your car your money

IF I had another go at a car I’d go the full stock as a rock car with a couple of come fits like power steering and air con
You don’t see meany stock cars now a days at shows
I’m in the Restores car club and there not to many stock cars there ether, personally I think the hole “Street Machine” things are getting out of hand and have been flogged to death

A well Detailed car will always win fans

But as I always say
It’s your car your money
