Blown Diff

Image:

Hi Guys - My MacGyver story is with my second car which is a 4 x 4 (not old holden) but I was doing 90km/hr up the beach near Wedge Island the other day and booom, bang bang bang...

My rear diff blew up and locked up both wheels at the water level, so I crunched the diff another 50m or so to turn car around and get it up to the high tide water level.

I then had to pull out both rear axels using a small tool kit on the beach. It was the 3 x flat head screw diver bits I hammered around the pressed in axel and finally I got them both out and drove home on front wheel drive after I pulled off the rear tail shaft.

So if I had given up - how do you get a flat bed tow truck on the beach?
