HZ One Tonner to Tub conversion

Apologies if this has been addressed before.

HZ / HX One tonner ute, I am looking to take off the tray and replace it with a tub. Can it be done? I'm assuming so with a little bit of engineering here and there.

Thanks.

Holden did it to tonners for the South African market back in the day. You'd need the back half of a ute body to do it the right way.

There was a tonner with the Ute back for sale on eBay rather recently. Was on for quite a while. Customised locally, no South African thing.

By the looks of the basic tub l'd guess it was made locally in S A not by Holden. The tonner would have been shipped over as K D

yeah, there was a mid blue coloured, hq front, super clean. It was for sale a few years ago for quite some time and then again about 6-12mths ago. I think as a unique ute it looked excellent. It really looked pretty much like a normal tub ute but with the gap behind the cab.....best of luck. I would think you could take off the back wall of a normal cab with the tub or these wall section are available from rare spares. Would need to be a rigid panel that won't flap in the wind or such. SHould be fairly easy as the front mounts for tone tray are very basic shape and could be modified easily to fit tub...but then I've not done it:)
