Hi guys
I have an EH in my shed has not been registered since the mid 70s.
My father gave it to me about 15 yrs ago.
Dad was not the registered owner of the car as it was left in the shed of a property he purchased in the late 70s.
The previous owner of the property and EH told me & dad the car was registered to his business in Manly Sydney, but he retired it to the property as rust was preventing re registration.
So the eh was the property bush basher for the next 30 yrs, dad I'm sure was the legal owner of it but no papers to back it up.
Dads gone now and I'm sure the previous owner is as well.
where do i stand when I go to register the car after restoration?
Mark

In NSW you can can complete a
In NSW you can can complete a Statuatory Declaration that the vehicle was obtained from a person unknown.
You could declare that it was obtained from a person unknown in 197? and has been stored by your father since.
That should be acceptable. The RMS will check it's history and if it isn't stolen or has money owing you should be OK.
I lost the receipt for our EH and used a Stat. Dec. that the RMS provided.

Yeah, what he said
Just to back up what "Old is good" said. Statuatory Declaration is the way to go. Just make sure you tell the truth with the caveat "to the best of my knowledge". It is a legal document and it needs to be signed by a Justice of the Peace. Take along as much supporting documentation as you may have, just in case you might need it, but it should be a simple matter just as Old said. Enjoy the joys of bureaucracy.
RMS have the Stat dec forms
RMS have the Stat dec forms and the manager is usually a JP and can sign the Stat. Dec.
That's what I did. Easy as.
